From utilizing digital learning in unique ways, to going to great lengths to ensure students have access to meals and proper nutrition, I am so proud of the community efforts I have seen to provide continuity of learning.

Stanford Taylor statement on Gov. Evers’ executive order

MADISON — State Superintendent Carolyn Stanford Taylor issued a statement today in regard to Gov. Tony Evers’ executive order, ordering the closure of Wisconsin schools after the school day Wednesday, March 18, 2020.
 
“The safety and health of our students, educators, and families remain of the highest importance. When considering the length of school closures, we are asking our local school districts and local health departments to be in close coordination in making these decisions.

Sixty Wisconsin educators selected as 2020 Educators of Promise

MADISON — The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, in collaboration with the Wisconsin Army National Guard, and the Wisconsin Association for Middle Level Education, today named 60 educators as the 2020 Educators of Promise. The group was selected for having a strong potential for educational and community leadership.

Graduation rates in Wisconsin continue to rise with class of 2019

MADISON — Graduation rates in Wisconsin continued on an upward trend, with 90 percent of students in the class of 2019 completing high school within four years, according to data updated Tuesday on the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction’s WISEdash Public Portal. The 2018-19 four-year graduation rate increased from the previous year, representing an overall 1.6 percent rise over five years.

Stanford Taylor to tour Milwaukee schools, see how students utilize Career and Technical Education programs

MADISON — State Superintendent Carolyn Stanford Taylor will learn how students benefit from various Career and Technical Education programs by visiting and touring two Milwaukee schools on Thursday.
 
Stanford Taylor proclaimed February “CTE Month” in Wisconsin, representing a time when the importance of these programs is highlighted. The long-term goal of CTE in Wisconsin schools is to prepare students for a wide range of careers reflecting the modern workplace by offering them opportunities to improve their transferrable skills prior to graduation.
